Local charity Rape Crisis Surrey and Sussex (RCSAS) have been awarded best ‘Support Group’ in the 2017 Crawley Community Awards.
The charity was set up less than two years ago to work with women and girls who have experienced rape or sexual abuse at any time in their lives. In the short time since its launch, RCSAS have provided free, independent, specialist support to over 300 survivors.
Based in Crawley, RCSAS supports women and girls from across Sussex and east Surrey. Services include trauma therapy, independent advocacy, outreach, a helpline and training and prevention work.
Centre Manager Natalie Brook commented: “we are delighted to be recognised by our local community with this award, demonstrating both the positive impact our services are having on women and girls’ lives as well as the need for our work. More women and girls than ever are seeking support for the trauma they have experienced which is why specialist services like RCSAS are in high demand. We look forward to continuing our work to believe, support and empower women and girls who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives and would warmly welcome anyone who may need our support to contact us.”
The centre can be contacted on 01293 538477 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The helpline is open every day between 12:00 and 14:30 and 19:00 and 21:30 on 0808 802 9999.
